Does anyone have ideas for vegetarian cooking but with a soul food flavor?

I am considering becoming a vegan, meats are boring me but I love veggies but without the fat and high calorie sauces. Any good suggestions for preparing veggies ala african american style.

Soul food typically has pork fat. Without that, you don’t have the flavor. Greens are steamed with small chunks of pork fat & onions. Snouts with BBQ. Mac & cheese is loaded with both fat & calories.

Instead of becoming anything, eat healthy. Eat with moderation, soul, mexican, or anything you want. A little of a bad thing is not so bad.

Take care

What is this Mexican cooking method called?

You take shrimp, scallops, squid, and other seafood, cut into even pieces, and add onion, cilantro, Serrano pepper, garlic, olive oil, and enough fresh lemon juice to cover all the aforementioned ingredients. Let stand for about 20 minutes…the lemon juice actually "cooks" the seafood. Serve in a bowl at room temp. I’ve been told this is very good. Please tell me the name of this cooking style and feel free to add any additional bits or tasty info you might have to offer. THANKS!!!

yup ceviche i love making it :) i also add oregano when i let the juice cook the seafood and also onion. just eat it with tostadas fried tortillas and add tapatio sauce .. sooo goood!

Where would Italian cooking be without Basil and Tomatoes?

Isn’t it odd how those two foods/herbs are not even native to Italy? They originated so far apart yet go so well together.

or where would it be without garlic
